Introduction

This course equips participants with a solid understanding of the principles, policies, and practices needed to prevent and address sexual exploitation and abuse. Participants will explore the root causes of SEA, the impacts on affected individuals and communities, and strategies for establishing safe reporting mechanisms. Using case studies, interactive sessions, and scenario-based training, this course emphasizes a survivor-centered approach and outlines organizational responsibilities in maintaining a zero-tolerance culture toward SEA.

The course is designed to provide participants with essential knowledge and skills to prevent, identify, and respond to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) within humanitarian and development contexts. This course addresses both organizational and personal responsibilities in creating a safe environment free from exploitation, prioritizing the rights and dignity of vulnerable populations, and ensuring accountability.

    • Address power imbalances through training, awareness campaigns, and policy enforcement.
  • Responding to SEA Incidents:
    • Explore survivor-centered response approaches, ensuring support, confidentiality, and non-retaliation.
    • Understand procedures for reporting, investigating, and managing SEA cases in line with international standards.
  • Implement Safe Reporting Mechanisms:
    • Learn to establish accessible, safe, and transparent reporting channels.
    • Engage community stakeholders in building trust in reporting systems and ensuring support for SEA survivors.
  • Promote Accountability and Zero Tolerance:
    • Build organizational cultures that support a zero-tolerance approach to SEA.

  • Developing action plans for continuous improvement and ensuring long-term commitment

Training Approach
